Wildflowers in Crested Butte

Late July into early August, the Wildflowers are in full bloom in Crested Butte…

So when thinking of things do when my sister and brother were in town, this seemed like the perfect place visit, camp, and spend quality time together.

Where to Camp

The most popular site in Crested Butte is Lake Irwin Campground. To snag a spot during peak season, you have to book way ahead (at least 6 weeks) on Recreation.gov

It was the perfect evening. Even in late summer, there was still snow on the mountains and beautiful, cool air making the quality of sleep 100x better. We stole Drew’s 4Runner for the weekend and cooked burgers and dogs on the pull-out table. Then we all squished into a tent and watched a movie on an iPad under the stars. So grateful for this memory.

Our next destination was Moab to check out some national parks and the quickest way to get there was driving Kebler Pass. It’s closed in winters, but absolutely magical.

The best moments are immersed in nature, where family presence is strong, and the cell service is weak.
